{"id":221,"date":"2020-11-19T16:38:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T15:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=221"},"modified":"2021-12-13T17:42:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T16:42:42","slug":"hybrid-learning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=221","title":{"rendered":"Hybrid Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After the switch to Emergency Remote Teaching took place, it became clear that a longer term strategy would be required in our Business School, to accommodate the necessity to rapidly switch between on campus and online teaching; to deal with reduced class sizes and to handle participants who had to isolate or were unable to travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of principles were advocated in this approach &#8211; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students would be be offered teaching or equivalent activities for the same amount of time every week as pre pandemic.<\/li><li>Synchronous teaching would be in-class and online in 90 minute blocks.<\/li><li>Asynchronous activities would be delivered through the University VLE (Canvas).<\/li><li>A representation of all activities would be present in the VLE for students who could not attend using mechanisms such as pre-recorded slides and discussion forum.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedagogic approaches derived from Networked Learning, the Community of Inquiry framework, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=192\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"192\">Learning Design<\/a> framework were chosen as the basis for this hybrid delivery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These pages describe the process we followed in moving to our Hybrid model and share the materials that were used in CPD sessions for staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a number of pages and resources available <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Moving online \/ hybrid learning overview (this page)<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=192\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"192\">Learning Design framework<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=253\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"253\">Ideas and activities that you can use in your online teaching<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?p=247\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"247\">Resources and suggestions on the move to online<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This project has been reported on in the <a href=\"https:\/\/charteredabs.org\/events\/ltse2021\/#1621421259899-91f955a7-1153\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/charteredabs.org\/events\/ltse2021\/#1621421259899-91f955a7-1153\">Chartered Association of Business Schools Learning, Teaching &amp; Student Experience<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/charteredabs.org\/events\/ltse2021\/#1621421259899-91f955a7-1153\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/charteredabs.org\/events\/ltse2021\/#1621421259899-91f955a7-1153\">conference<\/a> (2021) and forms the basis for a chapter in a forthcoming book<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eprints.kingston.ac.uk\/view\/creators\/5026.html\">Avery, Barry<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eprints.kingston.ac.uk\/view\/creators\/3563.html\">Wason, Hilary<\/a>&nbsp;(2022)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eprints.kingston.ac.uk\/id\/eprint\/50381\/\">Pivoting a Business Schools teaching online.<\/a>&nbsp;<em>In:<\/em>&nbsp;Jamil, M.G.&nbsp;and&nbsp;Morley, D.A., (eds.)&nbsp;<em>Agile learning environments amid disruption : evaluating academic innovations in higher education during COVID-19.<\/em>&nbsp;Palgrave Macmillan.
