{"id":192,"date":"2020-06-11T15:24:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T14:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=192"},"modified":"2021-12-13T14:13:07","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:13:07","slug":"learning-design","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/?page_id=192","title":{"rendered":"Learning Design"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To assist staff in thinking about the design of their module teaching, we advocated the ABC Learning Design process&nbsp;(Young and Perovi\u0107, 2016)&nbsp;which is derived from Diana Laurillard&#8217;s Conversational Framework&nbsp;(2012). During the ABC design process learning activities are planned and pinned to teaching sessions; from this the overall shape of taught interactions then becomes clear in terms of six learning types \u2013 acquisition (read\/watch\/listen), inquiry, practice, production, discussion and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the original form this process is typically used for new module construction &#8211; for our move to a hybrid learning style almost all our modules pre-existed with learning outcomes, module content and assessment strategy already designed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context we offered customised CPD sessions showing our variant of the ABC process &#8211; taking existing modules and thinking about how they could be delivered online and in class in new ways, with the underlying Community of Inquiry and Networked Learning approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The customised version of the ABC modeller (an Excel spreadsheet) is available, along with a video demonstrating its use <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/KBS-Online-ABC-LDv4.xlsx\">KBS-Online-ABC-LDv4<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/networkedlearning.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/KBS-Online-ABC-LDv4.xlsx\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Online ABC modeller\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kqtP9WSWNeE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>References and links<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>ABC Learning Design <a href=\"https:\/\/abc-ld.org\">https:\/\/abc-ld.org<\/a><\/li><li>Laurillard, D.
